Almost no cooking for the last month! Grilled steaks, fruit, cheese andsalami
With one thing and another, I have done almost no cooking in the last month.
First I was on a two-week business trip, then I was back barely six days before taking off on vacation. And with this vacation we have been exclusively in hotels, so no condo cooking.
But on Christmas day we knew there was a good chance that few restaurants would be open, so we bought a small bag of Matchlight Briquettes, a lighter, some steaks, and some salami wrapped cheese sticks at an HEB grocery store 30 minutes before it closed on Christmas Eve.
We found a park with grills, and started by seasoning the steaks with Montreal Steak Seasoning (for me) and a Garlic Salt Mix (for Steve). I already had the seasoning salts, plates, napkins and utensils in a little go-bag in the car for road trips.
After the coals were hot, the steaks went on the grill.
And meanwhile I got out the cheese sticks and sliced up some apples and peeled some clementines that we had.
And ten minutes later we had steaks.
I have to admit that I am anxious to get back in the kitchen and start cooking again! At least this was a start.
