Holiday Crab Ball

I suppose it is no coincidence that recent posts are heavy on my MIL Shirley’s creations.  They are always present at celebrations and holidays.

It’s Thanksgiving, and it is just the two of us, and we are in a condo on vacation so I am making a limited menu.  And that menu will include a Crab Ball.
It’s very easy, and so good!  It should always be made at least the night before to let the flavors meld.
All you need is
8  oz cream cheese
1 can crab
2 Tblsp Minced onions
2 Tblsp Worcestershire sauce
Cocktail sauce
Although it is easy, following the process below will make it easier to blend.
1st, simply cream the softened cream cheese.
Add the Worcestershire sauce first, and blend well.
Now you can add the minced onion and blend.
Meanwhile, drain and pick through the crab for any shell or cartilage bits.  Then squeeze the crab as dry as you possibly can.  I line the colander with a paper towel so I don’t lose any crab down the drain!
Then add the crab to the cream cheese mixture and blend thoroughly.
Mound the crab mixture in the middle of a serving dish (I’m at the condo as mentioned, so I had to use what was available!) and place plastic wrap over it, shaping into a ball.
Refrigerate overnight.
When ready to serve, spoon cocktail sauce over the crab ball, and surround with crackers.
You might find that you need to make two of these for family gatherings.
